Peter comes from the village of Sadovo. The wife of his owner got in touch with us and asked us if Peter could come and live in the valley. Her husband was having some serious health problems and neither member of the elderly couple could look after the donkey anymore. They were both relieved their old companion was moving on to pastures new and was not going to end up in some illegal slaughter house.
During our checkup upon arrival, we were surprised to discover Peter had actually gone blind. We provided him with protective headgear and he proved to be a quick study – he always follows the other donkeys out and then back to the stables. We are happy to see him live his life with dignity and are proud of his independence.
